GENDER EQUALITY AND WOMEN'S EMPOWERMENT
WORLD

Social structures present across the world have created an inequitable balance between genders. In modern society across the globe, women and men do not enjoy equal privileges. Research shows that in order for a nation to attain a higher development rate, equal opportunities for all genders should be made viable. Gender equality is achieved when women and men have access to the same rights and opportunities across all sectors of society, especially economic participation and decision-making. Upon when discrimination is eliminated based on differences in behavioral characteristics and needs and aspirations across genders, the balance between genders becomes equitable. The extensiveness and universality of this issue surrounding gender equality and women’s empowerment make it extremely pervasive requiring an active change in policy and social structures.
