HELP CHOOSE THE ISSUE THAT WE WILL DISCUSS ON OCTOBER 28TH
ACTIVITY PERIOD: NOW THROUGH SUNDAY, OCTOBER 8TH
During our monthly public forums, we spend our time discussing a topic related to one of our chapter's featured issues.
Similarly, during our October 28th UN Day event we will hold a discussion that is based on one of our featured issues, and just as we do with the monthly public forums, we will place Learning Resources on the UNA-Orlando website to allow everyone to be prepared for the discussion.
Several topics are being considered now, but it would be great to hear more ideas.
The process for making the final decision is:
- Today (Tues. Oct. 3) and Tomorrow: Brainstorming ***TOPIC SUGGESTIONS BEING ASSESSED NOW***
- Thursday and Friday, Oct. 5th and 6th: Topic Assessments
- Saturday and Sunday, Oct. 7th and 8th: Learning Resources / Webpage Content
Today (Tues., Oct. 3) and Tomorrow
- Brainstorming: what ideas do you have?
As you consider a topic that you think would be a good idea for our UN Day discussion, I encourage everyone to refer to the same sources that we use to build the Learning Resources sections of our public forum pages:
Keep in mind that we are not choosing which featured issue we will discuss. We are choosing a topic based on a featured issue.
A good example comes from our March Public Forum. The featured issue for that month was Gender Equality and Women's Empowerment. The topic of discussion for the public forum was "When important decisions are being made, why is it so important to have women in the room with the authority to influence the outcome?"
If you find a topic (or topics) that you think would be good for UN Day, use the box in the form below. Include a short explanation for why you think it would be a good topic and include the link to at least one relevant article or video from the Internet.
Thursday and Friday, October 5th and 6th
- Assessing our topic options, based on idea submissions
Saturday and Sunday, October 7th and 8th
- Building the Learning Resources section on the UN Day page
Monday, October 9th
- Announcing the topic to everyone (before sunrise on Monday)
NOTE: THIS IS A TENTATIVE SCHEDULE. IF WE CAN FINALIZE OUR DECISION EARLIER, THAT WOULD BE GREAT!
