2016 UNITED NATIONS DAY
2-4pm SATURDAY, October 29th

Dover Shores Community Center:
1400 Gaston Foster Road, Orlando 32812

Every year since 1948, chapters like UNA-Orlando have been organizing events to commemorate the founding of the United Nations. Annually, UN Day is officially October 24th. We will honor UN Day on the following Saturday, which is October 29th.

Joining us from Washington, DC was Sarah Shuster from Nothing But Nets.
NOTHING BUT NETS is a program of the United Nations Foundation that saves lives by distributing mosquito nets throughout Sub-Saharan Africa and other regions. With the mottos, "Malaria Kills. Nets Save Lives," and "Send a Net. Save a Life," Nothing But Nets makes bed netting available to people who would otherwise be subjected to malaria-carrying mosquito bites throughout a night's sleep.
The photo on the left shows one of our brave UNA-Orlando volunteers (me) who participated in the "Experience Life Under the Net" project last Spring.

In addition to learning about Nothing But Nets, we also discussed our New Neighbors Project,
our Sport For Peace Project, and other upcoming activities. However, a very important purpose of the meeting was to discuss our chapter's agenda for 2017.
