CONSEQUENCES OF WAR

INTRO

Coming out of World War II, the global consensus was that the causes of war must be addressed to avoid the vicious circle of war that is driven by greed and clashing viewpoints. For this purpose, the United Nations was created. With the mission of establishing Peace and Stability, a focus on human rights, and a respect for the dignity of all people, the UN addresses the conditions that cause communities to breakdown and institutions to fail. Understanding the economics of war, the benefits to society, and the long-lasting negative effects is key to understand what steps need to be taken now that will end the violence in places such as Syria, Congo and Yemen. What is necessary to do in order to address inevitable conflict before it turns deadly? Is it even possible?
