What is Model UN?
Model United Nations is a simulation of the United Nations General Assembly and other multilateral bodies. In Model UN, students step into the shoes of delegates from United Nations Member States to debate current issues on the organization's agenda. While playing their roles as delegates, students make speeches, prepare draft resolutions, negotiate with allies and adversaries, resolve conflicts, and navigate the Model UN conference rules of procedure - all in the interest of mobilizing international cooperation to resolve problems that affect countries all over the world. As we are no longer insulated from the world, it is important for students to have the skills and knowledge required to navigate this new reality. Model UN empowers students with the intellectual tools to help them become global leaders. At the same time, student participation with Model UN and with community activities organized by UNA-Orlando will provide students the opportunity to build their resumes and prepares students for a global tomorrow.
