THE UNITED NATIONS ASSOCIATION OF THE UNITED STATES OF AMERICA
UNA-Orlando is a growing organization, which makes this a good time for you to play a role in determining the sort of organization it will be in the future.
On this page is a collection of links that will take you in a variety of directions. From here, you can help update the Featured Issues pages of the UNA-Orlando website and you can check out the CALENDAR page to find links to scheduled meetings, events, and activities.
All of this, including the Membership and Donation links, will be very important to ensuring the continued success of UNA-Orlando. Your participation is greatly appreciated.
UN AGENCIES AND PROGRAMMES
Within the United Nations System, hundreds of agencies and programmes exist for the purpose of addressing the world's ills. On the UN SYSTEM page of our UNA-Orlando website, there is a list of many of those agencies and programmes. Use that list to identify the ones that have missions that are aligned with your interests and your academic and career goals.
UN agencies are run by experts in their field and their websites hold endless amounts of useful information. Use that information to expand your understanding of the issues and provide content that UNA-Orlando can use on the chapter's website and during in-person events.
UNA-ORLANDO FEATURED ISSUES
The UNA-Orlando chapter has twelve issue fields, one for each month of the year. Each month has its own featured issue and at the end of each month we hold a public forum with a discussion on the month's featured issue.
Prior to the start of each month, we build a Learning Resources page with content related to the month's featured issue. This gives anyone the opportunity to familiarize themselves with the issue and begin to engage with others. Then, on the day of the month's public forum, those attending the forum can arrive prepared for the discussion.
For anyone who wants to be involved with UNA-Orlando, the chapter's featured issues provide a variety of opportunities, including:
- researching the issue
- providing content for the website's Featured Issues pages and other social media
- providing content for use during in-person meetings, events, and activities
- participating in the planning, organizing, and conducting of a monthly public forum
- providing event support during the forum
- engaging in the discussion before, during, and after the forum
