The independent country of Ukraine has built a strong nation since their separation from Russia on August 24th 1991. Despite facing ongoing pressures from foreign countries, Ukraine has managed to maintain strong ties to the United States and is soon facing integration into the organization NATO. Attempts to maintain independence have been threatened over the past decade due to an ongoing Russo-Ukrainian war with Russia since 2014, resulting in over 14,000 Ukrainian casualties. The seven year Russo-Ukrainian war has resulted in polarizing the nation and overall civil unrest, leading the world to watch on and observe Ukraine border on the brink of a civil war.
