On March 18th of 2014 growing tensions between Russia and Ukraine hit an all time high with the Russian invasion and annexation of Crimea. That event would eventually lead to political unrest in the regions in east and south of Ukraine. This unrest would cause a massive Pro-Russian separatist movement in those regions and violence would escalate. These events would lead to the War in Donbass where the Ukrainian army and pro-Ukrainian volunteer forces would face off pro-Russian separatist and the Russian military and volunteer personnel. This would result in an ongoing conflict that would take the lives of 14,000 and wound over 27,000. As well cause millions of Ukrainian refugees and millions of Ukrainians in desperate need of humanitarian aid.
