MOCK ELECTION
As of November 21, 2023, we have identified four elections that would meet our criteria:
EL SALVADOR, GENERAL, WEDNESDAY FEBRUARY 14, 2024
INDONESIA, PRESIDENTIAL SUNDAY FEBRUARY 25, 2024
SENEGAL, PRESIDENTIAL, SUNDAY FEBRUARY 25, 2024
PAKISTAN, GENERAL, SUNDAY, MARCH 3, 2024

Now that I look at that list above, I notice that the NDI list has changed. This is what I see now (3am on Nov. 21):
Bangladesh, General, January 13, 2024
Taiwan, Presidential, January 14, 2024
Comoros, Presidential, February 4, 2024
El Salvador, General, February 8, 2024
Pakistan, General, February 14, 2024
Indonesia, Presidential, February 25, 2024
Belarus, Parliamentary, February 25, 2024
Senegal, Presidential, February 25, 2024
Cambodia, Legislative, March 1, 2024
Iran, Parliamentary, March 3, 2024
North Macedonia, Presidential, May 5, 2024
Panama, General, May 19, 2024
It is my opinion that the dates prior to February 25th are too early. I would want more time to prepare for our mock election. For the dates after February 25th are too late. Also, I think a Presidential election would be best for us. Therefore, it seems that our instincts were correct to choose Indonesia and Senegal as potential choices.
Based on the research we have done already to this point, for the next few days, we can focus on finding information on the following:
Candidates (incumbents and challengers)
Political Parties (people in charge or prominent members)
Civic Organizations
Media/Journalists
Election Observers (are there any official organizations that monitor elections in these countries in real life?)
I have created two sub-pages. In the list of pages in the right panel in Pages mode, they are both underneath the MOCK page: mock Senegal and mock Indonesia. Place any information you find into the appropriate text fields within the appropriate sections. There are six sections:
general: information regarding the country and its election
CANDIDATES
POLITICAL PARTIES
CIVIC ORGANIZATIONS
MEDIA/JOURNALISM
ELECTION OBSERVATION MISSIONS
Within each section there are three sub-sections. Notice that I have placed my name into the top text field of each section and sub-section. Use the general section for Senegal as a sample. Claim a sub-section text field in each of the sections by inserting your name in the space that reads "Someone else's".

Pleasant's Chat Box
Indonesia: Curent President: (President Joko Widodo known as Jokowi)
Presidential Candidates:
1) Name: Parabowo Subianto, Age: 72, Political Party: Great Indonesia Movement (Gerindra Party)
Running mate: Gibran Rakabuming Raka, is currently the defense minister.
Other things to note: Former lieutenant-general turned politician. Prabowo was dishonorably discharged for alleged human rights violations in East Timor and in relation to the deadly riots leading to the fall of Suharto’s government.
2) Name: Ganjar Pranowo, Age: 54, Political Party: Indonesia Democratic Party of Struggle.
Running mate: Muhammad Mahfud, the minister of Coordinating Politic, Law and Security. Mahfud is known as a frank and outspoken figure. Mahfud MD - Indonesia's widely respected coordinating security affairs minister brings integrity to the Ganjar ticket and the possibility of crucial votes from the influential Nahdlatul Ulama.
Other things to note: Ganjar served two terms as Central Java governor, gaining popular support for improving infrastructure in the congested region by approving new data centers and overhauling roads. Ganjar has limited foreign or economic policy experience. Ganjar has adopted Jokowi’s grassroots populism with impromptu walkabouts, speaking about his humble origins, and is now building the largest following among the three candidates on TikTok.
3) Name: Anies Baswedan, Age: 54, Political Party: Not aligned with one yet but backed by the National Democratic Party and conservative Islamic Prosperous Justice Party(PKS).
Running mate: Muhaimin Iskandar is the chairman of the National Awakening Party, which has strong ties to the country’s largest Islamic organization, and boasts over 45 million members. He has been deputy speaker of the People's Representative Council since 2019 and labor minister from 2009-2014. He is a relative of Abdurrahman Wahid, or Gus Dur, a well-respected former president and religious leader.
Other things to note: Before joining politics, Anies was an academic (former and youngest head of an Islamic university). He started a movement in 2009 to address a shortage of teachers.

Senegal Current President: Idrissa Seck, 63 Rewni Party
Presidential Candidates:
1) Name: Karim Wade, Age: 54, Political Party: Senegalese Democratic Party (PDS)
Things to note: Wade is an ex-minister and son of former President Wade, who was sentenced to prison in 2015 for embezzlement. He, like Sall (the former mayor of Dakar), was disqualified from the 2019 elections despite being pardoned by President Sall. To ease conflict in the upcoming polls, a board known as the Political Commission of National Dialogue proposed changes to Senegal's electoral law to enable two opposition figures — Wade and Khalifa Sall — to participate in the presidential elections.
2) Name: Khalifa Sall, Age: 67, Political Party: Manko Taxawu Senegal (MTS)
Things to note: Dakar's former mayor, Khalifa Sall, was jailed for corruption in 2018. Sall, who has no relation to the Senegalese president, was arrested in March 2017 for embezzling 1.8 billion CFA francs ($3 million) in public funds. He was sentenced to five years in prison the following year but was pardoned by President Sall in September 2019.
3) Name: Ousmane Sonko, Age: 49, Political party: African Patriots of Senegal for Work, Ethics and Fraternity dissolved in July.
Head of the Pastef Opposition and popular amongst the Youth. Sonko is serving a two-year prison sentence under house arrest for "corrupting the youth." It is unclear if he’ll appeal the conviction and what his fate will be in the race for the Senegalese presidency. Eligibility for presidential 2024 is unsure/unlikely.
