CONTENT SUBMISSIONS
OBJECTIVES AND BENCHMARKS - Page 2 of 4
Updated December 27, 2024
Primary Goal
locate articles and videos on the Internet that our members can use to inform themselves
Secondary Goals
improve our ability to analyze matters related to political issues, social issues, and humanitarian emergencies*
improve our ability to determine the trustworthiness of media outlets and other sources of information*
recognize the connection between what is happening in places around the world and what is happening here at home*
*Notice that this project isn't just an effort to provide content for the una-orlando.org website. More important, It is an opportunity for all of us to strengthen our abilities to analyze our information sources, understand complex situations and even more important an opportunity to lead others to that same level of understanding. We inform ourselves. We inform others. They inform themselves, and then they inform even more people. It is good for one person to be informed, but much better when whole networks of interconnected groups of people are equally informed.
Sections / Pages / Perspectives
We have 79 pages in the Featured Issues portion of the una-orlando.org website. Those pages are categorized into 6 analysis sections:
A: Human and Civil Rights - - - 14 pages
B: Environmental Management and Protection - - - 9 pages
C: Population Displacement and Migration - - - 8 pages
D: Personal Health, Knowledge, and Expression - - - 6 pages
E: Government, Business, and International Affairs - - - 13 pages
F: Crisis Situations and Humanitarian Emergencies - - - 29 pages
The first 50 pages pertain to social issues (sections A-E). The final 29 pages pertain to the various troubles experienced by a single country or geographic region.
In the past, we were criticized for focusing on issues only from a USA perspective. With that criticism in mind, we divided some of the issues into two or more perspectives. For example, the Humane Treatment of Animals issue only has one page but the Children at Risk issue is divided into two pages, 1) Children at Risk USA, and 2) Children at Risk WORLD.
The 29 pages in the Crisis Situations and Humanitarian Emergencies section are single pages. Country examples: Myanmar, Yemen, and Haiti. Regional examples: Congo and the African Great Lakes, the African Sahel, and India-Pakistan.
Content Submissions
Articles and videos are both considered to be content submissions. For each Featured Issues page, it would be good to have 100 content submissions per page. Therefore, we will mark our progress by how close we are towards reaching that number. On a regular basis, our totals will be updated on a spreadsheet that is located on the Statistics page (4 of 4).
Familiarize yourself with the issues and situations (descriptions below). Then, begin submitting articles and videos whenever you are ready.
